Apprenticeship at Braunform

3 months after the beginning of her training period, Laura Baumann is „totally happy“

13.11.2012

Since 1st September the 17-year-old Laura is one of 40 trainees of medium-sized company Braunform GmbH in Bahlingen, Germany. After her visit of the commercial school and a work experience in this occupational field she has chosen a three-year apprenticeship to become an Industrial Management Assistant.

Within the scope of a one-week teaching practice, Laura gained insight in all commercial departments of Braunform, from Purchasing, Human Resources, Financial Accounting / Controlling and Production Control to Sales and Marketing. Each department has its own contact person for trainees who „was always very helpul and explains a lot of things to me“,Laura says. Altogether, the teaching practice was „very good“ and confirmed the desire for an apprenticeship training position. „A young applicant who previously made a teaching practice thereby shows us particularly engagement“ explains Sandra Schmieder, training responsible for commercial area. As the chemistry has to be right on both sides, it is also a great possibility to get to know each other.

In autumn, the apprenticeship start for 2012 was ringed in by a newspaper announcement and Laura applied for the training position of Industrial Management Assistant with her school certificate and her teaching practice confirmation. A total of 13 training positions in the professions Industrial Tool Mechanical (m/f), Process Technician (m/f), Mechatronics Technician (m/f), Technical Product Designer (m/f), IT Application Specialist – Systems Integration (m/f) and, in commercial area, Industrial Management Assistant (m/f) were manned.

After just one job interview with the training responsibles she got her apprenticeship contract. Sandra Schmieder explains: „If someone has left a positive impression during a training practice we are pleased if this person is interested in an apprenticeship.“

Each year, shortly before start of the apprenticeship, there is a meeting with the young people and their parents to get to know each other. This opens up the possibility to clarify last questions and also to show the trainee’s future activity area to their parents during a company tour.
